Compression Questions

My 2005 sabercat 500 has 4000 miles and it has 115 psi in each cylinder, and i was wondering if that is good or not, or time for a new top end

Compression readings should be taken when the motor is up to temp. with the throttle side open. If yours were taken on a cold motor, they will be lower. Also, compression will sometimes read quite a bit lower at higher altitude. As long as your compression is close to the same for both cylinders and doesn't have any unusual noise, run it.

The correct way to get the reading is to pull both plugs, leave the ignition off, attach gauge, Hold throttle wide open and give a minimum of 3 pulls.

I usually will give it 6-10 pulls! If indeed this is how you came up with it then yes it is time to freshen the motor! I ususaly tell people about 3500 it's about time! At 400 you may want pistons too!
