The aftermarket "kit" that is available for your Mikuni VM38 is a waste of time. The inlet needle and seat supplied with these kits is junk. Buy two genuine Mikuni # VM28/511 1.5 inlet needle and seats from any snowmobile shop that sells parts from Marshall Distributing or Parts Unlimited, they have a Viton tip and are $21 list price each. You may need a new pilot jet or a bowl gasket,
Arctic Cat gets $5 for the gasket, $3.66 for the pilot jet. That does it for most Mikuni carbs, everthing else usually cleans up.
