Windshield Removal

I just bought a new windshield for my 99 ZR 600 EFI and was wondering the best way to take the rivets off and change the shield. Any tips are welcome.

It should be screwed on. You will need to take a very small screwdriver and pop off the little screw covers. Then with a phillips take the screws out. On the far ends of the windshield there may be a slot on each side of the hood that the the shield inserts into. The ends will be secured with thick rubber bands.

If it does have rivets take a 1/4" drill bit and just drill the head off then push the remainder out the back.

Ya, took the covers off, one is stripped but the rest are ok. But the threads the screw goes into, are those part of the windshield or do I need to save them for the new shield??

I got the 2 lower screws out on my 95 cougar but the higher 2 seem to be stripped out...tried to get the headlight out to get to them, but the headlight seems to be attached on the top...how do I get that out?

you will probably need to replace all of the screws and inserts. They are cheap though. Less than $10.00 for all of the parts needed.
