Cool Clutch Basics

Since I am a clutch dummy I want to ask a few ??
1 What should be the max RPMs from my 93 580Z
2 The spring is in the center hole of settings what changes if I move the spring to a different hole
3 What is a ball park on a rebuild kit for this stock clutch Oem or better performance rebuild kit
4 Besides a mile figure what are some signs it may need rebuilt
5 what do the different color springs do/mean

Thanks for all your help thus far!!

As you move the spring in the secondary up or down from center, you will change the max rpm by about 200. This is helpful when you tune the primary for a better hole shot or more top end. This allows you to keep in the peak of the power curve.

If you are just replacing spring and weights in the primary, yo should be able to do it in the $80 range.

Over time, the spring looses its resilience and should be replaced (more from years rather than mileage).

The different color of the springs is a tension coding system.
there are single rate and progressive rate springs that can be matched with specific helix and weight combinations.

1.you should be able to pull 8500?
2.tighter makes more rpm
3.You could also get a 108 for about $175?
4.Take the cover bolts loose abit and see how much movement there is? bushing could need to be replaced, bothe drive and driven?
5.Higher spring rate the higher the engagement and or full shift rpm.
Good luck!
