580 PS clutch question

I just got into snowmobiling last year and so far im having a blast. I started my 1997 580 powder special this weekend and noticed that the track was spinning at idle. I would hit the brake and stop it but as soon as it was released the track would spin again at probably 2-3mph. Should I take it in and get the clutch serviced?

Start by just cleaning the clutch, start with compressed air and blow everything out.. that in itself may make a difference. The track will usually turn when the sled is up on a stand, as long as it doesn't creep forward when it's on the ground, you should be ok.. That's not saying the clutch doesn't need work, but a properly operating system will turn the track on a stand...

Yeam my '96 ext 580 does the same while on the stands, not on the ground thought.

Most sleds will do that when they are up on stands when they have a good belt on them.
Every sled I have ever owned would do that, and it made no difference as to the brand.

Your Vmax may be the one that might need alittle help? See how hard it is to turn the track by hand and compare it to the A/C?
