01 ZR question

Hi, I was wondering if all 01 ZR's came with powervalves? Also what is the HP rating of these sleds. If they do not come with powervalves, how much HP do the powervavle zr's make ?

wow, more then the F6 ? Also I have another question, im thinking of getting a zr600 2001/2 which ever comes with power valves, or an F6. I read so much about how the F6's being all tippy with the thiner track, the rider has to lean more into the turns. Does this allow the rider to take corners faster ? I also read of these 4 wheel upgrade kits, but that would be like going backwards??, cause arctic cat came up with the thinner track for a reason right? Anyways, I like how my ext 580z 1993 sled handles, front end stays put. But It doesnt mean I will settle for just that. I want to get a very well handling sled, will a 2001/2 ZR out handle and F6 03/06 ?

The wheels being added back onto the rear axle was due to track problems on trails (hardpack). In deeper snow it was not an issue.

I will be doing hardpack trails only, but of course I will encouter parts that havent been groomed yet. How will a stock zr VS a stock F6 handle corners/turns for trail riding?

The ZR is the racier version of the Z series, it has the stiffer suspension for tighter handling.

The 01 did not have power valves and was only around 105hp, the 02 was the first year and did have some servo trouble but it was only 110 or so. The 04 or was it 05 before they had a F6 and it was about 118!
Personally I have been upgrading my old ZR because I didn't like the way the F7's felt! The 02 or 03 ZR would be a very good trail sled maybe not as fast on a short run but I would say the ZR might have more top end? And would handle better in the twistys! For the money you would be (IMO) better off with the ZR and take the money you save and upgrade the clutch, motor and shocks!

I always wanted an F6, but it seemed to always be out of my range, now that It is somewhat attainable its a tease. So far what I read, the F series doesnt handle as well as the ZR's in the twisties, I find that such a shame, its a newer sled, also Looks awesome!! But I will get what will be more fun in trails, looks is the last think I Will look at in a sled purchase.

FireCats are very set-up sensitive. They also require a lot more "body- English"! Get the set up right & nothin' else will touch it!!

03 was the firs year of the firecat and also that year there was no 600. in 03 Cat introduced the firecat with a 500 and a 700 engine. Then in January they released a limited build 600.
