580 Z 580zr
I would like to know the difference if any in these two model for exhaust reasons I have decided to buy one cause snow is a comin and my bike shop to busy for me to make one at this time ........ The OEM for 93 580Z is 0712-076 and for 93 580ZR is Oem 0712-081 The 076 seems to be much more expensive and some searches say 081 will work on my 93 580Z will either one work or....

Whoa 93 580 Z, if memory serves me right the Z is a race sled, like a snopro? Do you own the Z?
And building an exhaust system for a high performance two stroke is not something a bike shop would likely be qualified to do. I know some engine builders that wouldn't dream of building there own pipes!

580z OEM
So i looked it up in a microfiche Thanks to Alssnowmobile and it shows 2 different pipes and muffler silencer for the 580Z was $260 for the 580ZR was $90 ??? so can i use the ZR style and mod to work or?? The one big diff i noticed was the muff silencer inlet ports were opposite 580Z to rear 580ZR to front

There will be several small differences, mostly in performance. I'm not saying that the zr pipe won't work, but is there any pictures of both? You could get the zr pipe and compare them as long as it's possible to exchange them for the others if they are indeed alot different! The difference in pipes can make as much as 10-15 hp difference!

According to Alpha Sports - Arctic Cat Snowmobile Catalog The engines share the same p/n. The cylinders also share the same p/n. Didn't see any diffs in the mounting/outlet of the pipes. Don't know why the price delta. The listing implies the Z is available only with the EXT sled & has electric start (available) so I doubt it is a race version. JMO

I got a pic of my pipe that I posted. Its from a '96 580 EFI and it could possibly be interchangable and maybe cheaper.

The muffler can
The can on my 580Z has an inlet that is on the back edge of it and the 580zr inlet is on front edge according to the pics from Alssnowmobile.com and Pball dude your pic shows same can i have but yours is turned 90 degrees from what mine is but I think it would work or close and i can mod to fit. 245- 260 is a bunch for a stock pipe on older sled. The z and zr have same motor and manifold etc so i can see it robbing power or performance if i go with the 90 dollar one for the zr correct???

Like I said give it a try, line them up side by side and look at what is different? You likly will be able to rework your can to make it fit, rotate maybe?

So what is wrong with your pipe? Have you tied to find an after market single pipe? Like Black Magic, Psi, D&D?

I dont understand how a pipe for my 93 580Z can be 290 and the one for 93 580zr only 90 same motor same manifold what the heck.... Im thinkin i can use the zr pipe and turn my can aroundto line up ports??

I still think that the Z is going to be a bit of a higher performance! Perhaps it's the first of the triple exauhst port 580's! If so then yah the 95 would work and if you could get a used one with the can you would be set! I wonder if I still have a spare?

How could it be "higher performance" if p/n for engines & cylinders is the same??

Exact same engine, the differences are in the suspension and drive train (clutching and gearing).
