Well, the smoke should clear once the pipe is at operating temp.
As far as the low front, look at where the front of the skid is mounted (there should be 2 holes) and put it into the lower one. Then you will need to put a bit more tension onto the front shock preload coils. Make sure that the rear of the skid is also mounted in the lower hole. Check where the lower end of the rear swing arm is mounted. There should be 3 holes in the rails. If the lower short section is vertical, you will have more weight transfer and it will have better traction for acceleration. The more inline that the transfer arm is with the rest of the swing arm, the less weight transfer, but the better it will absorb the bigger bumps.
I have mine set up for maximum weight transfer and then stiffened the spring preload to a heavier setting. I find that this gives me the best of both settings. Much better hook up for acceleration and a smoother ride, especially in the stutter bumps.
