1995 AC Jag FC, From one carb to two?

Has anyone tried converting this over? I have a chance to get what I need to do this for $50.00. I am wondering if it is really worth it, if I will be happy with results, or if it is a waste of time.

Seems to me it would be a lot of work to get the jetting set. The fan engine can only move so much air and it is calibrated for that amount with one carb. If you jet it too lean, you burn down. If you jet it too rich, you run worse than you did with one carb. There aren't many places to look for help with the jetting, either.. so testing is key. Start rich, work toward lean, and don't expect many people to have any idea how to help. The biggest limit to HP in a fan is getting rid of the heat; when you make more HP, you make more heat. Getting rid of the heat is an issue that needs to be solved as well.

By the time you jet it down, you'll be right about at the place you were with one carb. It'd look cooler, though!

Haha... Maybe one carb is plenty for me. This is the AC I got for $300.00. I have to still add oil to the gas until I know it is using gas via oil tank getting low. It just didn't feel like it had the get up and go all of my other sleds did minus the Deere. I am guessing its partially to do with it being warmer out.

Let me ask you this... I got the sled, added a gallon of gas because the gas it had smelled fine. I am guessing my slowness could be due to bad gas. Anyways, I have yellow lines on it. They are very yellow with good gas, but in some spots, it looks like brown clouding. Is that oil that is seperated or water? Gas is cheap so I plan on draining most of it with a syphon (spelling) and starting over with fresh gas/oil mixture. 40-1

Why even take the chance the gas may be old......just drain it out & put it in your car/truck...no waste that way! Plastic/vinyl fuel lines tend to discolor as they get old, so I don't think you have an issue there as long as there are no air bubbles (indicate air leak).

I did put a larger single carb on an old Yamaha once, this would help, But to gain anything really you need to open up the transfer ports and also the exhaust Y pipe atleast.

If you go to 2 carbs, you will actually need 2 smaller bore carbs. Otherwise it will overfuel all the time. Unless you are going to do porting on the cyl's, leave it a single carb setup.

When I picked up a '82 Ski-doo Citation 3500 I learnd that the 4500SS had two carbs and what seemed like the exact same engine. I was looking @ putting a secound one on there to see what would happen once it is all tuned. Never got to it since I got rid of it for my CAT!
