EXT Flywheel Troubles

Help, I have a 1995 EXT 580 (carb) with a lighting coil that has failed. I have had a puller on the flywheel for a couple of days with a strain on it, but no movement yet. I'm timid to put too much strain on the bolts in the flywheel as they are very small. I've tried pounding on the puller, but it doesn't seem to want to let go. I'd appreciate any advice anybody can give me. There's way too much snow here in New Brunswick to leave the Cat in the garage.

Thanks,

Catman

I've never pulled a flywheel off an EXT but I would consult a mechanic at your local dealer to make sure you are using the right method (not saying you are doing it wrong). Flywheels are easy to get off as long as you are doing it right and with the proper tools. Make sure you have the right puller and use stout heat-treated bolts. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice, SDlawndawg. I eventually pulled the flywheel off. I was just being timid. I just had to give it a little more torque and it just popped of in my hands.
