problems already!

finally got to go out on a short run with my 99 zr 600 efi
that i bought a month and a half ago. it goes good for
a few seconds, lol, when im giving it gas, and when i let
off it bogs down. the clutch doesnt want to let go. does
anyone know how to lube the clutch and torque converter?
it also looks like whoever put the aftermarket clutch
kit didnt tighten the bolts down on the torque converter,
and there is play when you grab it and move it. like i need this crap when we finally got snow.

The clutch doesn't take any lube. You need to take it off and clean it really well.

Probably needs new bushings too. I believe what you are refering to as a converter is the drive clutch? Also remove the rear (driven) clutch and clean it and chech the bushings too.
The frount(drive) clutch needs a specific puller, and be carefull they both are spring loaded.

hey man, gotta be honest with ya, all i did was tighten the bolts that mount the torque converter (driven clutch)
a little, and added the one that was missing, and throw a little lube on the clutch (drive clutch) where it looked
like it needed it, and my zr ran like a bat out of hell.
i only rode it for like a half hour tonight, but i think
the lube and the tightened screws did the trick. thanx for
the advice anyway kc, i do appreciate it.

I think that you may have fix it for now ,but you can keep spraying lube in it. If it happens again go with SEG +KC recommendation take it apart.

pay me now or pay me later. Problem is... later is usually when youre 60 miles from your tool box. better to be safe than sorry. remove the lube and adjust it properly as per the mfg recommendations.

ill keep ya posted

i ran it again tonight, and the sled ran super again. luckily, im probably only going to do some local riding, so i think ill be fine. ill let you know how it works out though. i dont think the the previous owners rode the sled last year, and that could have been part of the problem, but i guess well see. i tell ya what though, this is my first newer sled (the last one was a 87 skidoo safari 377) and there is really no comparing the power, handling, suspension, and performance between the 2. she shoots out of the hole like a bullet and wants to pick the front end up off the ground. thats pretty exciting, and i have to be careful, cause i can see myself gettin into some
trouble!

food for thoght ..
dot know how fermiler you are with what the lube does but you will soon find out thatit atracks the verry belt dust that was causing you frist problem
pull the cluch apart and clean theroly then insted of lube just blow it out with compresed air ther made to run dry and will jame if ther is eny dirt in them

i didnt go crazy with the lube. i just used a little silicone spray, something not petro based and there for less likely to gum up. i could see where there was a little bit of rust on the rollers of the primary clutch,
and like i said, the previous owners didnt ride it for the
06 season. i think if i get a little time this week, and
seeing as how the snow has already friggin melted, maybe
ill take a look at the clutches. might as well be messin
with something, waitin for the snow.
