Sled advice needed

I just bought a 93' 580 EXT and the guy said that it hasn't been rode very much in the past couple years. Someone told me that I should stay light on the throttle for the first tank of gas. Do you guys think I need to do this? Thanks in advance.

HEavy on the gas would tend to clean the carbs better than going easy on it. Maybe he's thinking MECHANICAL problems (doesn't want it falling apart on you at 80 MPH).

give the carbs a good cleaning and change the gear case oil, then lube the entire sled. change out the old fuel with new fuel and the old injector oil. put new plugs in it and you should be good to go. pull the exhaust pipe on one cyclinder and check the piston the cylinder for carbon build up. If heavy carbon, you may consider cleaning or ring replacement.

clean it up like sawblade said, put some sea foam in the first tank of fuel to clean the tank, lines and rest of the fuel system out and you should be good to go. i wouldnt pound it outta the box, just get used to it, but if everything is clean and working properly theres no reason you cant full throttle it

if it hasnt been ridden for a while then you should just flip the throttle alot or just dont keep it at the same rpms for a loooooong time.
Ive never heard of going slow on a snowmobile though?
