how fast is my sled

does any body no the top speed of my 81 el tigre 6000 with a liquid cooled 500cc engine in it.

but my 480 will do 120 without difficulty so you can guess the 20cc difference and then the weight so i guess i'm useless here.

yea but your sled is also alot newr the older sleds top out alot lower of speeds. based on my knowledge i would say u can prolly hit 60-70mph with that sled. mostly the engine cc's don't matter its the older gearing/clutching that is limited. hope this helps

i have a shakey spedo needle and from what i could tell it was reading about 90 but i had 2 let off cuz i was running out of room on my pond i no my sled with a 440 in it can do 115 but my gauge only goes up 2 100 so im not sure

my old 500 twin cougar use to do about 75 to 80 mph but that was if i held it to the pin for a long time it was only a fan though i would say it should hit about 80 to 85 mph tops...

My dad has a 1979 el tigre 6000 440 liquid cooled and at the radar runs in Sault Ste. Marie in the winter of 1979 at the I-500 he was clocked at 83. He did a spectator lap around the track at around 65 if I remember right, he got a patch but I don't remember the speed. Him and a few buddies rode from the central lower MI, to the Soo to raise money. Anyways, the sled was almost new though. have had it touch 80 in the past few years though.
