Realy Mad!
well i bought a 2004 Sabercat 600 EFI at the end of last month realy nice clean sled very low miles. This is my first cat was a former Yami guy anyways i get the sled runs great was maybe a gallon in the tank. Then i Read about the gas tank recall that came out in january called the dealer cause i wasnt to sure were the flaw was in the tank and asked him if i should bring it back he says your all good we checked it its fine we can do a sleeve for it to stop it from cracking more . So satisfied with that i hear of the steering recall so i take the sled to a dealer that is a little closer than the one i bought it at. They do the steering fix and then he says you need a new tank. So i say ok put one on there he says they are on back order and the first shipment of them will be for the sleds we already have here. Im kinda pissed because this wasnt a consignment sled it was a trade in and it had been sitting there since last year and they never put the updates for the recall on this sled wich came out in january of this year so it sat there and they did nothing. I called Arctic Cat Corp they said this is a big no no the Dealer should not have sold me the sled with this problem it should not have left the dealer ship like this regardless if it was new or used. So now i got a new new to me used sled with a F*cked up tank and they are so far back ordered who knows if i will get to ride the sled this winter. My Friends are telling me i should get my money back and look for a different sled. I look at it this way they sold me a sled that they knew had a recall and never said anything to me about it. I guess i just feel realy cheated plus when i called the dealer i got it from he tells me yea weve been replacing tanks all summer except mine isnt replaced.

wow, dude...that totally sucks
if they are "to backed up" to fix your sled, id call the better business bureau on them, and tell the dealer you're going to do it too. maybe this will light a fire under their rears to get your sled up and running again. im sure they can find a tank somewhere, its not like your trying to locate plutonium for the flux capacitor.

I had to put a new tank in my F7 Myself. The filler neck broke off all but about an inch. This was BEFORE all the recalls came out. I went to my dealer and he called cat and had to put up a little fuss before they would replace it. Cat replaced the tank for free but would not pay for labor. Like I said , that was before the recalls. I'm not sure what they are doing about the broken tanks. I could imagine all the BOs on tanks. They had 85'000 sleds to recall. Whatever you do though, don't let them make you pay for a tank. The last thing they want is bad publicity. Its not your fault the mold for the tank was flawed ,or the plastic formula was bad.

See the sticky at the top of the AC forum re this subject. Recall letter came out late April.
In all reality, you're not going to be able to ride for another 6-8 weeks. Try to work with your dealer to get a tank ordered ASAP. I bet he'll be able to come through, especially if you bought it from him.
I was able to get the tank on my F5 replaced during the summer; my F7 EFI was not affected by the recall. He already has the parts for the steering recall waiting for me to drop my sleds off.

Yeah, but that's not Arctic Cat's fault. They did the right thing with the recalls. It's your DEALER who really screwed you. If I were you, that would be the last cent that dealer would ever see out of my pocket.
You might want to place a call to the manager of the place where you bought it, and tell them it is unacceptable that the sleds on the floor get the tanks first. I'd demand they give you the very first one they get in.

POORLY MADE!!!!!!!!!! LOL. I think thats debatable at this point. You are ALL Right!! You got to stay on the dealer about it. Does the dealer not care that he sold the sled that way???? Make SURE you deal with the one you bought it from Darkstar. Another dealer will think your "just another owner with a recall".

Did you ever make an appointment with your original dealer to get the tank ordered & installed?? Or did you just walk out mad?? There is no doubt, he could have had that tank for you if you were willing to work with him. I contacted my dealer after I saw the letter & he ordered them right away. It took a while before I could get the sleds to the shop, but when I did, he had the tank there with my name on it!! And I didn't even buy that particular sled from him.
Guess what I'm sayin' is.....don't get mad, try to work out a solution to the problem where everyone comes out a winner!!

The Dealer was contacted the day after i had the steering update done. I just found out i need the tank on monday. I called him he told me he would give me a tank off of an 06 if it would make a difference but he says those tanks are bad as well took my number told me first tank that comes in will be mine, but i went a step further called the Big Boys in Theif River AKA Arctic Cat Today they are contacting the Dealer and sending out a tank just for me. Arctic Cat seemed mad as i was about the situation and wanted my sled fixed asap. I was realy impressed with the phone call. So we will see how it goes.
