idle problem?

working on a 1990 cougar cant get it to idle long just wants to bog out just wondering if getting to much air no boots from carb to airbox.any help would be great thanks.

Jetting does NOT affect idle!!
Sounds like you may have a dirty carb(s) that needs some attention! Add fresh fuel & plugs before going too deep into it!! That alone may help your issue!

There are bushings on the thumb throttle control that also could be warn out!!!!

carbs cleaned

carbs are clean and set to factory settings.just wondering about bushings in thumb control is that the small round dot that pushes in when you let off the throttle because it runs great until you let off thanks again everyone for the help ps snow on the way for here tom princeton,mn sweet keep her pinched.

No. The bushings i'm speaking of are actually on the hinge part of the trottle. Where its attached to the handlebars. If you take the throttle lever off they look like a nylon washer. There are two of them, one on the top and bottom.

Is ther any slack in the cable?
If you have it too tight, it will cause that symptom.
There should be about 1/8 in free play at the handlebar end.

Sounds like Arctic Cat's stupid little safety thing. I forget what it's called, but just about all Cats have problems with it. I disabled mine. The kill switch still works, and the bog is gone. Took me almost 2 years of riding to finally figure that was the cause. Used to be intermittant...

The throttle position sensor can be bypassed on carbed sleds and that will eliminate that problem.
