01 zrt 600 and 99 zr 500 help

Hi im looking to buy a 2001 zrt600 triple and a 1999 zr 500. Does anyone know what the common problems are of these sleds for those years, if there is anything i should be looking out for or weary of. I went and looked at them and the zrt600 triple had compression of 95 on the first cylinder and then 100 and the last two and the zr 500 had compression of 120 on both cylinders. Does anyone know if that compression is consistant with that of other sleds that year and model. Any information you have would be greatly appreciated. thanks,Jeff

The ZRT600 has low compression. The other sled is right where it should be (120 or higher). I'd avoid the ZRT if I were you, unless you can do a top end rebuild yourself.

Do you know if any of these have any common problems or flaws to look for?

Unless you are very vigilant and keep on top of them, tripples have a tendency to eat cyl's.

You NEED to let them warm up first before tearing off on them! The biggest reason triples seize is from cold seizure because they weren't warmed up first!

theres your comparision for fuel milage, stay away from the tripples man, heavier to many motor problems and more expensive to fix, keep the twins
Dude, you might want to research more before you post...My Mach Z 800 triple is 10 lbs heavier than a MXZ670 twin, and it will stomp it! Triples (at least Rotax) are NOT a problem, unless you don't know how to warm it up first.

Oops, I meant to write 60, not 10...my bad. IMO there is nothing wrong with a triple, I'll bet if you asked that retired mechanic, most of the problems were due to cold seizing (operator error).
