THe one on the throttle lever itself, or the ones on the carbs?

The one on the handle usually gets bypassed anyway as well as the ones on the carb body. It was a terrible system IMO. It's basically a magnet in the carb that reacts to that switch. If the slide isn't bottomed out, the switch won't activate. I think it's either on or off, no inbetween.

NOpe. Just hook the wires running from the harness together.

When you say hook the wires together, do you mean short them together rather than just unplugging the sensor? or is unplugging the sensor good enough?

In my 1995 manual...

To test the Throttle Position Sensor...

Use a multi-meter to test between the red adn black leads in the throttle sensor connector. Spec is 5000 ohms +/- 15 percent

Test btween the throttle sensor's black and white leads witht he throttle in the idle position. Test spec is 850 ohms +/- 15 percent

Test between the white and black leads with throttle wide open. Test spec is 5000 ohms +/- 15 percent

Attach the mulitmeter to the throttle sensor black and white leads; then compress and release the throttle lever. You should note the resistance changes. If the resistance does not change, the sensor is not operating correctly.

If the throttle sensor is faulty, replace the throttle sensor.

YOu cannot disconnect an EFI throttle sensor. It is required to send input to the ECU caluclation of fuel/air mixture ratio.

I think SEG is thinking of the Throttle position switches on a carb model, which are a PITA to set and can be disabled by jumping (which also defeats the safety feature; if the slides freeze open and the throttle is at idle, the engine dies. If the switch is bypassed, if the slides freeze open, HANG ON!)

OK Dan,

If the Sensor was Taken off the Throttle Body then Reinstalled what should the resistances be from no throttle to full throttle or is that the info you just gave me?
