driven clutch problem
I have a 92 lynx and I replace the drive clutch with a 94 comet duster and now my driven clutch seems to have a problem dropping the belt down fast enough. when I give it full throttle and bring it up to 40mp/h the driven clutch wont drop down until I hold it at that speed. so I think I need a spring that will compress a lot easier but I have no idea what will work with my sled.

You need to replace the driven clutch spring to match the strength of the drive clutch spring (weaker spring on the driven)

Call your dealer or go on Brown's Leisure World - Home Page and look up the spring that came on your sled. It should tell you the pressure. Then you need to go to the next weaker spring.

well the weakest sping i can get from the dealer is 99lb but i know where i can weaker ones but i cant do that untill i know what the pessure of the sping is in my drive clutch is. and i dont really want to take apart my new clutch to see what color sping is instaled in it. so im wondering if u or anyone else knows what clour sping the 94 comet duster comes with cuz that will tell me what the pessure of the spring

CALIBRATE THE 94 DUSTER TO YOUR STOCK SET-UP OR ALITTLE ABOVE,THAT WILL MACTH YOUR SECONDARY SHIFT/BACK SHIFT. Right now it sounds like your to light in your primary.

IT'S REALLY HARD TO GIVE AN ANSWER BECAUSE THAT IS A REALLY SMALL AND OLD STYLE CLUTCH. IN MY OPINION YOU SHOULD RUN ATLEAST A 102c ON UP IF NOT THE STOCK. TRY AND FIND WHAT CATS SPRING COLOR AND THE RATE IS AND COMPARE IT TO COMETS SPRING RATES.

Wait untill you get to drive it in snow first before you make any more changes. You may find that it works just fine in normal operating conditions as opposed to bein up on a stand with no load.

well i know that the blue spring thats instald on my sled is rated for 111lb and the other white spring is rated for 99lb put i know my drive clutch has a lighter spring in it. the way that it is right now its to have a lot of torque off the line. and it already had alot of torque off the line when it was stock. thats why i want to find out what the spring in my drive clutch is rated for so that i can match it or get my seconday to the same weight as my primary. and it only has 556 oringal miles on it and the clutch went on so thats why i had to replace it.
well i know that it really wont change much cuz when it was stuck i could get 95mph on the stand but when i was driving it i only could get 72mph out of it. but now that i change my clutch it ingages at a lower rp so i know it will go faster then that with a load. but my secondary wond drop down far enough so my pimary is doing most of the work of getting it up to 65mph and i dont want to push it any faster then that cuz the belt is about 1/4inch above the pully at that speed. i was watching it as it was doing this and the seconday stopped dropping the belt down and the primary just kept on pushing the belt up. and where the seconday stopped moving is where it would be at if i was doing 40mph when it was stock.

if you didnt have problems with the secondary doing this before then your problem is not in your secondary, and by you saying that the primary is engaging at a lower RPM than stock means that a weaker spring that stock is in your new clutch. What i suggest you do is look up the stock spring for the clutch, and get the stock ramps for the clutch (calibrate it). It's relatively easy to do and doesnt cost all that much money. Do this and she should be back to normal.
happy riding

well for the stock drive clutch there's only one spring I can get for it and for the secondary there's 2 springs, a blue spring that I have installed right now and its rated for 111lb and a white spring that's rated for 99lb.
I like the fact the my drive clutch engages at a lower rpm cause that means its going to give me a better fuel mileage and the way the prices are now is not a bad thing and if i can find out what my drive clutch spring is rated for i can make my secondary match it and that would also increase my fuel mileage some more. and i run nothing but 91 octane in my sled cause it burns cooler and it also give better fuel mileage and a little bit more performance.

If you keep the heavier spring in, you will have faster backshift and it will also lower the topend slightly. The lighter spring will allow you to get to top speed faster but will not backshift (slow down) as fast.
Unless the engine specifies 93 octane, you are wasting your money. If you take the time to jet it for that fuel, then it will have an improvement in performance.

i just wish i new what my spring in my drive clutch is rated for so that i can make my secondary match it or come close to it.

Go here and look up the spring color that you have on the application page and It will give you the recommended spring for your sled.
