White Out Technologies XF 800 pipe insert

I was just browsing to see what was available for XF parts the other day, looking for a rear rack setup. I found this pipe insert that goes inside the top of the muffler from this company, White Out Technologies.

Did a google search and a forum search for this insert and I haven't been able to find any reviews or anyone talking about it. Has anyone on here bought one or know of someone? The company claims it adds 3-4 hp according to their "dyno graph" which looks fairly cheesy to me. I'm a skeptical guy, I'm just not sure how this insert does what they say it does. It appears to be either blocking off a few of the internal baffles of the muffler which could mean higher flow and slightly louder. Or it may be reducing the flow slightly and increasing pipe temperature for a better burn?

I'm not really sure how it works, any thoughts or concerns running one of these? It's only $30 so I'm planning on picking one up. Where I ride you'll be ticketed for aftermarket exhausts that raise the level of noise above factory, I've looked at a bikemen mountain can which should do the job and save weight but I'm thinking I'll give this a shot.

Thanks

Sleeper Sleeve

Acts as a restrictor which gives slightly higher back pressure that is supposed to improve scavaging which will improve performance.
Their claim of 3hp is suspect without certfied results.

Ah, I actually looked at the web page on my laptop instead of my phone and I was able to read the full description, "By adding our Sleeper Sleeve™ you increase back pressure and pipe temperature for more HP in the lower and peak RPMs."
I fully agree with you, their claim seems a bit over the top.

I like what White Out Tech is doing, making products for snowmobiles, but I find they are a bit over priced and a little mis-leading.

I'm also a sceptic about the claims. Most of these exhaust mods require other things to really make them improve. Re-mapping, etc.
This claims no need for a ECU remapping. Several companies claim with a their aftermarket y-pipes you don't need a re-map. Which, I could see may be possible if it does what it say's it does. If the did change the exhaust on the procross chassis from the twin spar without adjusting the fuel mapping on the ecu, perhaps this will bring the old flow characteristics of the twin spar exhaust onto the procross? Really reaching here, it seems like Cat/Suzuki would be wise enough to check the fueling after changing an exhaust.

I know, a lot of "ifs" in that, we will see how it works.

Yeah or rejetting!
Droping a main jet size could give you 3-5 hp?
No re-jetting option, they are EFI sleds.

I ordered one, shipping was $14 so the total was right at $40. Planning on running the stock one 1/4 mile several times in the field, swapping to the insert sleeve and running it again several times. I will post results when I have them. Should be able to calculate approximate HP based on the times and weight of the sled, if there is any difference at all.
