hard starting 440

i have noticed it doing this everytime i go to start it, it will start and then stall, so you have to keep reving it a little to keep it going. it does no matter if its warm or cold. after it warms up it will start in 1 pull though. also it seems to be really slugish when you pin it. could this be somthing simple like new plugs because they haven't been switched since last year and i fogged it for the summer.

MOre likely dirty carbs. Remove and clean them.

No, disassemble them and do it right, so you only need to do it once.

did you ever get your carbs cleaned? if so did it help your sled run any better? just wondering because my 87 eltigre 440 is doing the same thing. I have cleaned the carbs once this year and have actually changed one carb do to breaking with a new one.

i got the carbs cleaned 2 years ago. then a year after it started acting up. i tryed carb cleaner and it didn't change anything. so ya carbs need to be cleaned again. but not too bad if they last a year.

should i change the fuel filter? maybe its letting more dirt in now.

If it won't idle on it's own, the pilot jets in the carb are plugged. Disassemble and clean the carbs. Change the filter also, if it has one.

carb cleaner is virtually useless in my book, use compressed air and a needle to clean the jets.
