Unhappy Electric Shield hookup

I have been struggling getting enough power for my wifes electric shield. She has a 2005 Sabercat 600. I have it hooked to the bigger yellow wire coming up the handle bars from under the hood and the ground wire stuck in the stearing column. So all of it is wrapped up in the pad area on the handle bars. I draw about 10 volts without the helmet on and with the helmet testing at the hot and ground terminals in the shield, I only can get about 7-8 volts. The shield never seems to get warm enough to remove the frost or fog. Any suggestions?

The proper plug for the heated shield is located behind the APV servo motor assembly. Do a little digging around and you will find it. The empty plug is there just waiting for something to be plugged into it. Believe it is a yellow (+ve) and brown (-ve) wire...

Wink

Great, the plug and the picture of it is awesome and I will look for it tonight when I get home. One more question.....

Is there a clean way to do this by using some type of plug that I can attach the two (very flimsy) wires from the shield to so then I can plug it on to the accessory plug?

If so, what is it and where can I get one?

If not, do you have any suggestions on how to do this so it is a reliable connection?

Thanks!

Thumbs up

I did what Ditchpickle had said and it seems very solid. I had to take one bolt off the servo motor bracket so I could move it enough to wiggel out the plug. It has one brown and two yellow wires going into the hot. I am drawing about 11 volts at the helmet terminals so I hope this is warm enough. I did not see the reply about an adaptor plug from a cat dealer but I found some single male and female adaptors that fit from a hardware storeand then I wrapped it w/ electrical tape too.

Thanks guys for helping me out!

Glad eveything worked out for the better! I know alot of people running the power for their shields from this location. None have had any issues thus far after a couple of years. If a problem still remains, have someone check the visor. Even brand new items sometimes don't perform as they should!
