Unhappy Acceleration-Bogging problem 2005 F7

I have a 2005 F7 EFI with approx. 250 miles on it. I just let a friend us it and he stated that about 2 miles into the ride he was unable to get it over 5000 RPM without it bogging out. He ultimately had to limp it back to the trailer. I have not changed plugs yet and it had a full tank of premium gas. I am wondering if anything is obvious to anyone as unfortunately the sled is 200 miles away from where I live and I would like some ideas before I make the journey....Thanks

my main question, is it running at a constant and controled 5000, sort of like a rev limiter in a car?

if all of the usual stuff is fine than you are running on safe mode. check your power valves. find the sero on your sled (on the oil tank) and look at it when you start the sled. if it cycles once you are fine, if it cycles and additional 2 more times the apv are either out of spec(dirty or the cables are to long, but the apvs are probly clean as can be with that low of miles), or your stator is shot. if this is the case take it in for warrenty.

Before you do anything change the plugs. Don't want to go to a bunch of work and then realize the plugs were fouled.

Try plugs first. Tell him to check for a blinking check engine light.

Also ask him how long he let it warm up. The F'Cats have reverse cooling (flows head -> cylinders -> base) and need to be really warmed up good before getting on the juice. I usually let mine idle at least 5 - 10 mins (depending on temp), then warm it up another few minutes on a stand.

F'Cats have been known to really bog if the rider got on the gas on a cold engine. Unfortunatly scuffed pistons sometimes come with this. Make sure he is warming you sled up good! Rule of thumb is not to move until the running board is warm...
