1994 artic cat ext questions

hey everyone first post on the forum, looks like a nice one! I have a couple questions regarding my 1994 artic cat ext.
1. i just blew my chain off the sprockets for the second time in 15 miles. i bought a nw tensioner spring for it from cat and helped for a little while, till today grabbed a fistful ski's went skyward skipskip skip bang! chain came off the sprockets again. i was told this is a common problem for this sled becasue of the chaincase design, is there anyway to corect this problem?
2. I was wondering if anyone makes heavy duty rear springs for this sled. i canot justify buying a spring from the local dealer for 40.00 apeice when quite a few people make an aftermarket spring for it. could anyone help me out? thanks much

1. Yes there is a way to correct this. Locky say's turn your oil cap 1/2 turns backwards, flip your belt upside down, and put your rear spring up front. This should take care of your AC problems.J/K

SEG should help you. He'll find this.

sounds like you need a new chain and sprockets. most likely the chain has stretched and you have worn the teath. i'm not sure but cat i think is the only spring you will find you may find aftermarket but i bet they will be titanium, expensive

How far is the chain adjuster bolt from bottoming out? Sounds like you need a new chain, or someone put a larger than required chain in the case as a quick repair.

What shape does the chain have when properly adjusted? I mean is it oval or hourglass shaped?

Any signs of wear on the gear teeth?

How are your chaincase bearings?

chaincase bearings are new, no adjuster bolt on it the spring does it all, the chain does have an hourglass shape when it is installed. also for some reaosn this had really tal gears in it, 23x37 and brown leisure says that not the correct gearing for the sled so i hav a 20 and a 19 tooth top sprocket and a couple 40 tooth botoms so gonna give them a try and see what happens.

you need to see if you have the correct pitch chain for the sprockets also if i remember correct. and yes the ext does not have the adjuster such as the newer sleds, just a spring.
