Get it running? Is it a fuel pump problem or an electric problem? Dealing with similar problem over Christmas. No fuel to motor, good spark, would fire right up with fuel in spark hole, then die. Went to dealer, said needed new stator rotor, big bucks, went back home again. Don't understand gets good spark, are there separate coils just for the fuel pump. But Dealer said it was the rotor not the stator. I am little confused as usually. Anyone have any experience with these types of problems? Thanks Cam

Make sure you have a healthy battery.....12.8V or more!! Anything less will give you problems. See if it will run with a charger hooked up! Also check all the electrical connections for corrosion or looseness.

There are little plug-in units in the wiring harness called posisters, that control the fuel pump and the sensors for oil level and operating temp. If one is bad, it will cause the feul pump to not work.

-Get yourself an electrical diagram for your sled.
-Is your battery fully charged
-Ensure the kill switch is in the run position
-Check fuse link for fuel pump
-Check for 12 volts at the fuel pump connection point (reference to the electrical diagram), if no voltage at the pump, problem likley is not the pump. you can check the pump by applying 12 volts from the battery to the pump with a set of jumper wires.

- check for broken ground wire for the pump.
I think the 96 sleds require a battery to operate the EFI and pump. Later models had a batteryless EFI that ran off the stator coil.

I had a similar problem wiht my 95 EXT 580. Turned out some water got into a connection in the efi stuff and was shorting it out. The dealer was able 2 fix it without 2 much $

Check that the battery is fully charged.
There is an inline fuse from the stator to the battery, check that it is still good.
