Throttle cable and general question for 1999 arctic cat thundercat

Almost done guys. Have the throttle cable on order. Couple questions. I know I've asked them a million time over but do I need the little plugs on my carbs plugged in?? Also, I unplugged everything in handle bars. I want no electrical issues. I get spark, so I'm not worried about that. But will any of this affect the carbs and how my sled runs and idles???? Thanks.

The plugs on the carbs go to sensors that detect the position of the slides inside the carb body. They act as a failsafe, shutting the engine down if it's detected that the throttle lever is in the idle position and the slide is not. Inside the carbs on the slide, there's a small magnet. The plugs go to a switch that detects the position of the magnet. The switch is very sensitive and is sometimes difficult to adjust correctly, so a lot of guys disable them. If you do disable, you will have to jumper the plug that goes to the cables, as the switches are in series with the ignition, kill switch, and tether.

On the three Cats I've owned with those switches, I kept 'em all. If the carb slide ices up, or if the slide gets some debris or galling and sticks in the up position, without the switches in the loop, you could be in for a ride! Your call.

Ya I have everything unhooked. I'm not too worried about them freezing over. I have v force 3 reeds installed, will there be anything I need to do there with carbs? Also, what should the slide height be after I put new throttle cable on and how many turns out for idle, and how many turns out for air screw ? Just want everything perfect. I've spent too much time and money to mess something up.

Just do the synch check after replacing the cables so that you are sure that the slides are operating properly.
As to the number of turns to set them, it depends on cable routing and how much the old one was stretched out.
The wires from the carbs do not need to be connected together, but it just looks better than having the ends hanging there.
The wires from the loom do need to be jumped/connected or there will be no spark.

The harness needs to be looped, if the bars are still in the system!
One of the best upgrades to mine was the rack flat slide carbs!
Once you get the little E clip off at the lever and the PITA one on the Oil pump, the cable is simple to install.
The oil pump has a line to line up at wide open throttle. The carbs also need to be adjusted @WOT, they need to be smooth across the top of the carb.
Then use a small drill bit (like about 3/16") and adjust the idle screws to the same.
Now you can start it and adjust your idle and keep the screws the same number of turns! ( I go 1 turn at a time to each till Im close)
Then I adjust the air screws!
Next step is to fill up the gas and oil and RIDE!
Then mesure your fuel and oil used, do the math, you want 12.5 gal of gas to 1 qt of oil! If you are over that oil usage, you can adjust the oil pump cable!

Okay so throttle cable came and finally have time to out in tonight for big storm comin tomorrow. What are the turns out for idle, air screw, and height for slides to be at when I put carbs together. Also idk if it matters but I have a powerbreather open airbox and v force 3 reeds installed. For those that don't know, I have a 1999 thundercat 1000 stock pipes

I use a drill bit!
I hold throttle wide open and adjust the flush across the top, the release throttle and use the 1/8 or so drill bit to adjust the idle screw to just a bit of drag. Then fire it up and adjust all the screws the same number of turns till I get a smooth idle. Then do the air screws to balance!
