which clutch puller to use?

Hello,
Last year I finally was able to upgrade to a newer sled.. 98 zr 600.. I got a decent deal on it but it needed a little work. new carb boots, couple new bearings, slides, ect... the usuall stuff and the main thing was it needed a new clutch. runs great and overall very happy with this sled. The clutch I ended up getting was a new arctic cat stock clutch that was factory balanced. I know there are comet and helix cutches out there.. not sure what I actually have. This season I purchased a new trail kit from Dennis Kirk. I know I need a clutch puller for sure. 1st question is which one? and if there is anything else I will need to do this operation. the kit is a high performance trail kit with a secondary clutch spring as well.. any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
thanks and THINK SNOW!!!!!!!!

Welcome! You need the puller specifically designed for your year/model sled. Dennis Kirk, etc. have them.

if your clutch has 9 towers get the 9 tower puller, if it has 6 towers get the 96 and newer puller.

It literally has 6 or 9 "posts" that hold the halves together

typically, the older style 6 tower was a comet clutch, the newer style 9 tower was a Arctic cat clutch stamped with ARCTICO on the cover. Most 96 & newer models have the arctic cat clutches if original. 98 definitely should if original or was replaced as original. would use Dennis Kirk puller #28-655. Or go go cat dealer & purchase .

your dealer may only charge you a small fee to pop the clutch off and it may be less than buying a puller.
