Oil pump leaking. What to do?

I just got my bros sled finally running, and I must admit, those 500's have some pep. I took it out in the uard with a half inch of snow... lol. I was surprized. Lifted the skis at half trottle. But anyway, I noticed oil was pumping out of this little (looks like a check ball or something) hole on top of the oil pump. I have another oil pump as a spare, but I really don't want to pull this thing apark again, so i figured i'd ask if anything can be done, and WTF is that thing anyway?

oil pump

that "thing" is your oil pump and that little sliver ball that oil is leaking from, that doesnt really do anything because thats what the manufacturer uses to plug holes drilled into billit materials, they just use a ball bearing to plug it off, so yeah i would replace the pump as having that leak coul do 1 of 2 things:

1) leak out all of the oil and cause a ceased engine, or

2) cause an air pocket to form in the oil pump or oil line somewhere between the oil pump and the fuel pump and have the oil be trapped in the lines and have yor engince cease up

oil is your nemesis in sleds.. ( other vehicules too)

i would NEVER try to fix an oil pump.. changing it was the best thing to do
