Smile just curious..

Just wondering on what you guys think would be faster:
95' ZR 580 efi vs 2006 F5 firecat carburated

the reason being is my friend bought a new f5 this weekend and we're going snowmobiling after christmass(if theres any snow ). I think the zr might be faster off the line because of the efi but i have no idea.

My guess is a 500

I think the F5 would be faster. I imagine that it is lighter and has more horsepower. You'd probably need some mods to beat it.

if i remember correctly ur 580 is spec'd at 98 hp. The F5 is 103 hp and MUCH lighter. Depending on the weight of you and ur buddy and the tracks you have it'll at least be a close race.... In warmer conditions you should do better because of the EFI. I used to have a '95 580 and they do have a lot of low end grunt.

yeah i love my 580, that thing is so fast. I think im going to steal my buddy's headlights though....theyre so damn nice
That ZR proved itself a couple of winters ago when we were snowmobiling on some new trails and we got to a lake, there was only one solid-packed trail across the middle of this small lake. But I wanted to go play in the powder so i went off the trail and the next thing i know im riding in slush. So I pinned it and slowly turned around and got back onto the packed trail. Once i got back on the trail i looked back at where I drove and all I seen was a path of water. That was some good excitement...

oh yeah, do you know what the weight of a 95 zr 580 would be? Is there a site that has the specs of this snowmobile? I've looked but can't find anything.

My son has an 03 F5 & I had a 97 ZR580 EFI until just recently. They were very close from a standing start, but seems the F5 would pull better on the big end (prolly due to the power valves kicking in!!)

whoever is riding the zr should plan on getting smoked in any type of race if your going against a new f5. And whoever asked what size engine an f5 has isnt thinking. Its called an f5 for a reason.
