recoil ?

i went o put a new rope in my recoil today, but the thing won't retract. you wind it full of rope, pull on it, and it won't take the rope back in. even w/ no rope init it still wont retract.

what gives it worked before

what im about to say is very redneck but works 98% of the time. hit the recoil with a screwdriver or somethin and it usually sucks the roap back in. unless ofcourse you forget rewind the spring like letitsnow said.

You need to prewind the spring before you put the rope in. That way, it'll suck itself back in.

since you have it all together, look at the pulley. You will see a notch, pull the rope all the way up through teh notch and wind on about 6 to 8 turns. You will now have enough tension to retract the rope.
