Annoying Noise

Well I got my sled out in some snow this week and I noticed this kind of squeaky noise by the clutch. I can't quite figure out wheres it coming from. It only makes the noise when it idles. Any idea what it could be?

Sounds like you ran over a female and shes trapped underneath. Dont worry it will only last about a week then she will be ok for the next 3 weeks.

I had the same problem with my Yamaha Vmax when I put on a new belt. It was rubbing up against the clutch and when it engaged it stopped...Could be just the belt.

hm...I looked at the belt and didn't see any problems. Maybe I will take it off tomorrow and check it out. This summer when I ran it, it never made the noise til now.

Maybe locky is right?

Well I just went out and checked it out. It doesn't make the noise til after I take it for a spin. It is the belt though, so you guys were right. Now what can I do about it? Take it off and put it back on and see what happens?

Rub some MIDOL on it, give it chocolates and flowers, and just be there... to listen.

Did it only do it with this belt, or others? May need to shim the clutch a little.

This is the only belt I've had on it. I'll play with it a little today if it would warm up a little bit. -7 (without windchill) right now.

my phazer did the same thing. i sprayed some white lithium grease into both clutches. it seemed something was sticking inside not allowing them to work right. after a while the noise disappeared.

DON'T put grease on the clutches!!! They are made to operate dry. If you get grease on the sheaves, your belt will slip!
If anything, use a Scotch-Brite pad to clean the sheaves of old belt residue.
