Talking Little trouble finding a cat

Hey all,

The last sled I bought new was a ZR 440 (97 or 98 I don't remember exactly) with the bias adjuster mounted on the handlebar.

I can't seem to find out from the AC web site if this model still exists.

Been thinking of getting a sled again (I mean its only been like 7 years since I rode) and AC is cornfusing me .

I really liked the 440 for banging the ditches, had awesome suspension and handling (buddies ski-doo couldn't come close to me in the trees - I am talking a coupla hundred yard lead usually - then again I may just have been better than him ) and a set of Black Majic twin pipes made her sing.

If AC doesn't make this sled anymore - whats a viable option? The F6 sno-pro looks ok -- think insurance and I am not scared to call Black Majic and order some parts either to get a smaller sled the kind of power I like.

Back then IIRC you could not get the 440 sno-pro unless you were connected to a race program or something - is this still true? I would like a 440 again but a 700 is as large as I would consider.

Thanks fer the help.

you might consider the 580 as an alternative. You can get the 440 snow pros in a trail unit and do the tuning yourself.

Roger that and thanks. I am looking more and more into the sled thing. I haven't even thought about a new once since I sold the zr in 99 (had a son) - seems to be a lot of changes and things I am not familiar with.

4 stroke sounds good --- but I am wary of weight and what its like to ride - I like the point and shoot of the ZR 2 stroke.

Looks like I have more homework to do.

Digging around the AC web site - looks like the F5 sno-pro may be the closest to my wishes. That or the F6 sno-pro for 13 more hp.

Just what does the sno-pro models offer over the regular? - ie is it worth the $$?

I noticed the Fox Float shocks - not familiar with them - as I understand it they use compressed air in them somehow - I would think with the massive advancements in suspension technology that a good old coil over would still rock - whats the deal on these Fox shocks?

I am currently in Menominee (da UP) - I have to return to Texas this weekend. I am stationed there in the Navy but look to be out around Christmas (PFC - private freaking civilian again).

Then I am moving back to Menominee.

You still cannot buy a 440 snopro race sled brand new unless you are part of the race program. You can buy them used though.. The only thing is that the 03-06 are not trail rideable without major modifications (large gas tank, oil injection, rear coolers, pump gas heads, constantly checking jetting.). I would recommend the F6 snopro EFI over the F5. F6 is plenty fast (105+) and the suspension is the closest you can buy to a race sled that is trail rideable.. If you want more speed go with the F7 snopro EFI!
