Headlight, Display issues ?
Well, i went out to start up the sleds yesterday. We have a 98 440 Jag, and a 97 340 Puma DLX. I started the puma first, and i noticed the display on it was REALLY bright! Then i noticed the headlight was not on. I was kinda shocked, because it worked fine when we put them away in the spring. So i lifted up the hood and just wiggled the wires alittle bit. Nothing too agressive. Then i put the hood back down and the display was out! I could not belive it. So now there is no headlight, or display. Any ideas ?

if the headlight is out, the likelyhood is that all the panel lights are now blown. the best way to test if the headlight is still good is to connect directly to a battery or a charger.

sounds like a bad voltage regulator
its usually mounted on the chain case cover on the right, really cheap like $20 or something, i always caryy a spare just in case.

yeah that sounds like it could be the problem. The beginning of last winter i stopped at the local bar to get some food. Went out and started the sled with the electric start. It started fine. THen i ride for about 10 minutes and i had to piss wicked bad. So i stopped shut off the sled. And then when i went to start the sled again, not even a click on the electric start. wouldent even make a noise. THis was odd because it started fine 10 minutes earlier. So i just rode the rest of the season pull starting it. its just alil 340, not too hard to pull over . Does anyone think this could be related ?

check the battery charge. by now you probably need a new one.there is a fuse hidden in line from the engine to the battery, if blown, no charge. Lights will run from the regulator, but will eventually blow out. the battery helps to smooth the voltage also.

Well i took the shot battery out, and then looked around for the fuse. I found it beside the battery, it was in a yellow plug that said BUSS on it. Took the fuse out and its deffinatly blown. This would be the fuse from the battery to the engine/starter ? Also did you mean the voltage regulator would blow, or the did you mean lights in the display and the head light will blow ?
