I recently purchased a 1996 Arctic Cat Wildcat Touring 2-Up 700cc EFI sled.

There is a sticker on it that says not to run blended fuels or any fuels containing ethanol.

In the owners manual it states Ethanol fuels can be used, but the chip needs to be replaced.

This time of year in my area (NY) all of the gas contains 10% ethanol.

Do I really need to change the chip? Can I damage the engine if I don't? Has anyone else been through this? Thanks in advance.

dont worry about it. Just run your sled as if there was no eth in the gas at all. The snowmobile wont even notice the amount of eth thats in the gas.

My 03 F7 has an Ethanol switch for when you used blended fuels. Not real sure what it does.........suspect it makes it a tad richer.

I have the 93 700 EFI and have had no problems with it.
I think that when they say to change the chip to run blends or ethanol, they mean more that the standard winter mix that you get at the pump.

If you are that worried about it, most areas have premium non-oxygenated fuel available. In MN its use is restricted to off road vehicles. They put a dye in it, if you are caught with it in your truck's gas take its a hefty fine.
