It all depends on the snow. If you are in 2 feet of powder with that sled, you won't climb the steep stuff and you will probably be digging out a lot instead of having fun. If the snow gets hard, you can go a lot of places with a short track. I've climbed some pretty steep hills with my short track zr's and they have a short track with 3/4" lug, but not in the powder.

SEG is right, a deeper lug/longer track will get you more places, plus most mountain sleds are designed to get up on top of the powder instead of burrowing through it.
