The momentum of the hit put his feet in the air and he couldn't hold on, he fell of and slid 1/8 of a mile, the sled somehow stayed upright and coasted to a stop 1/4 mile from where he hit the big chunk of ice. 2 other guys that we were with saw it from a distance and came over to help. With a huge snowstorm getting real close, we could start seeing it come onto the resivour and getting a foggy white, so we knew we had to get him out of there. This wasn't a smart idea since he said his back hurt but it was the only thing we could think of. We just helped him on his sled and we slowly drove to the nearest inn and someone called 911 in, it ended up he had 4 multiply fractured vertebrea.
Ah, next time I might suggest you check out the "drag strip" before you go racing on it. I hope your friend is doing alright now. He is very lucky he didn't injure himself any more.
