Paintint A Sled - A documented process

Hello, I just got a 1984 yamaha phazer. Picked it up for $425 last week. Anywho, here it is the day i bought it:

I will be repainting this sled due to the ugly 80's color scheme it has. Here are my options for painting:

-Paint it either one color, or one pearl color. This would be nice and easy to do, and would look great.
-Paint it a marbelized color similar to the picture below (definatly not the color as the car below, but maybe a white and blue or somhing?)
-Paint flames, either the classic red white yellow orange, or else yamaha's white and blue would be really fun to do (i really like this option)
-Learn to airbrush and buy and airbrush kit and do a really cool mural and make this thing artwork (realisticly this wont be happening but would be really fun).

My buddies ride (marbelized paint):
