Greasing the suspension should make it work easier. There are 4 or 5 fittings to grease.
The foam is replaceable, it is to keep snow from being sucked into the engine.
You can make the hoses that you need from standard automotive hose available on a spool. Some with bends in them are more difficult to do, but can be rerouted to fit better.
