yes you will have to remove the plastic cowling that surrounds it. or at least be able to lift it up somewhat to pull the switch out. and on my phazer the primer is pushed up towards the handlebars and then down once started. and once the switch is unplugged it should still start. at least mine did. and you'll have to cover up the hole with something so snow doesnt get in.

edit- i will go out and take pictures of what you'll have to remove to get the switch out and post them in an hour or so.
