A studded track is just that. It has a series of what they call "picks" in the track for better traction. Their like ice picks that grab. Many use them to ride on ice. I currently don't have any installed, and don't seem the need to have any. I quess it's up to the indivdual and the type of riding you do. Carbides are under the front ski's for steering ability. You can get different types/lenths of carbides. There alot alot of good sleds on the market now. I am a Yamaha fan. I like the dependabilty of my brand.
