I have a '96 long track (it may be a '95, still confused between mfg and model year) and I got the aluminum plates and was ready to go on this mod but started looking and mine doesn't have the axle end plates that you show. Looks like the axle is just bolted directly to the tunnel. I thought maybe somebody took them off but there are no mounting holes or anything indicating that it was made with the end plates
Any opinions on whether I can do the same mod and just bolt the axle directly to the extender plates (I got 1/4" aluminum) with appropriate spacers????
