600 for powder?

Hello all, I am interested in getting a newer sled for next season. I currently have a 95 polaris indy 500 which has been a good trail sled but it's getting tired and I'd like to try playing in the deep powder.

I would realy like to get a 2000-2004 600cc Yamaha. something with a little more snap but that I can still afford to put insurance on.

My question is this, Could a 600cc Yamaha be used or altered to run deep snow? (longer/deeper track, clutch kit, different grearing...)

Also, what is the difference between the Venom, mountain max? are they built on the same chassis with a different track or are they a completely different sled?

I'm definitely new to mountain riding so any help would be appreciated.
