First of all these newer Cat sleds are simply amazing but I headed out to a demo a few months back and rode an M1000...not impressed. The power band absoloutely blows in a hardcore way until you get it wound up. I rode the turbo M1 and it was simply amazing of course lol. Anyways ive talked to some of the M1 owners around here and they would agree, the M1s are dogs stock but with a little bit of mods and a little fine tunning they are awesome machines which I dont doubt.
Second I think if you ligned up a stock M1 against a stock XP 800 the XP would walk all over the M1 all the way to the top. The Xps are simply amazing and not because of horsepower but because of weight savings. They are amazing in deep snow to, Snowest took all the big mountain sleds out this year and said that there is only one sled to date that you would have to actually TRY to get stuck, and that was the XP.
BUT! I would not buy an XP! Its too new, I would wait atleast another 2 or 3 years before considering one because until then they are going to have plenty of problems, but after they get the kinks worked out of the 800r motor, and all the other little odds and ends that have issues it will be THE sled to beat up on the hill.
