New additon to the family...
My wallet went into labor and this is what came of it.
I bought this sled for $400.00. I drove approximately 2.25 hours round trip. The guy I bought it from seemed to know very little about snowmobiles. It ran fine, not great, but it ran, everything looked good, and everything worked. The ski's were damaged, but my brother had skis form his Formula MX that fit great with new carbides. (PS: The skis are no longer for sale since I bought them) This was the first time I did not take the sled for a test run on the yard, oops. I drove it onto the trailer, paid the guy, and I was out like a fat kid in dodge ball.
I got home, unloaded the new addition and took it for a spin in my yard. There was this loud skipping, popping feeling, coming from the snowmobile. It had power, and it went like a bat out of hell. Amazing because this sled is heavy as F***. Not one I want to get stuck. Took the chain case apart and adjusted the chain properly. Put it back together and drove it. Same problem. I checked the track and it sags about 1 inch with no weight and maybe inch and a 3/4 with about #15. The problem is the track tensioning bolts are rusted solid so I will need to fix that first. Someone mentioned the belt might be skipping teeth. I took it off and in one part, the belt is barely 1.25" and another area 1 and 5/8". I am hoping it is that. I will know tomorrow when my neighbors will not call the Police on me running the sled at night. Bearings, etc. are great. Anyone else have any ideas? I do have to clean the carbs but it should be a fun, fast, insane sled.
