the ice isn't actuallt breaking under you, what happens is the weight of the snow causes the ice to crack and then water mixes with the snow causing slush that's why it looks like there is water coming up. There is alot of slush on all the lakes around here and up north because we got so much snow so early and it insulates the ice so it doesn't get as thick as usual. We've riding on the lake for a bout a month but we give like 80+ mph the entire time and don't stop mostly because of slush. as long as there is no flowing water you have nothing to worry about in sask this time of year just stay of the creeks and rivers.
