every Christmas i hear that 12 days of christmas song, tonight i heard it on TV and i started laughing, my girls were wondering why, so i told them..........
on year when i was a youngun, we were sitting down in the kitchen eating breakfast. we had a sliding glass door looking out into the back yard, dad noticed of all things a partridge in the neighbors pear tree (no really) so he makes me go get my shotgun, i did, and i didnt wanna shoot it, so he shoots it outta the neighbors tree!
THEN he makes me go out the front door, all the way around the other side of the house, making sure to stay low and hidden beneath the small hill, and sneak around to retreve the bird. i did, all i remember was before i made it back to the door the neighbor was outside yelling at us. (he was a very big and intimidating man) dad and him yelled back and forth for awhile, i dont really remember anything else of the event, but it is a memory that comes up each and every year around this time.
