I watched a couple tackle some hills that we were climbing around on, and they were doing about half of what the summits and rmks were doing. Could be the riders, could be that they were new machines and the guys didn't want to push them too hard or break them. Like they said they're more for the boondocker and not the hardcore climber. They do look like fun though. Turbo would probably help a lot also.
