1993 Mountain cat 580 idle

Hey everyone, your advice would be appreciated here. My sled has been running great, untill last night that is. When I come to a stop the idle gets very low, if i let off the break the sled starts to go foreward. It is like the clutch is still engaging even at idle. It was very hard to start if I shut it down. Now I can't seem to get it to start at all. At one point when I was pulling the starter the sled moved foreward on me as the motor turned over. Not very far or fast, but it did move about a foot or so. Any ideas on what I should check first. I am going to try taking the belt off tonight to see if it starts any easier. Thanks in advance!
