I don't know how to add power to your sled, but you should also be concered about a longer track and paddles for deep snow. A short track with many horses will just dig in easier causing you to get stuck out of the gate, unless you can get a run at it on hard pack and don't stop. How long is the track now and how much horse power does your sled have now? And some of the locals you have talked too, what do the ride and what kind of riding do you want to do, climb steep mountain slops or stay in the flat off the trails? If you don't know just keep the sled the way it is and go from there on your experiances and then spend the time and money. That is what I did.
